Hello fellow learners,

After hitting a bit of a burnout patch, Sae suggested something interesting: taking a short break from the deep end of Genki 2 and revisiting some of the foundational concepts from Genki 1.

I was a bit skeptical at first, thinking it might feel like going backwards, but it’s been surprisingly beneficial! It’s amazing to look at grammar points that once confused me (hello, particles!) and find them so much clearer now. Things I struggled to grasp back then now seem almost obvious.

It’s also a good reminder of how much I have learned, even when progress feels slow. And, I was surprised by how much I’d forgotten from the early days too – a good refresh was definitely needed. It’s actually helped my motivation to see the journey from a different perspective.

Sometimes a step back is a step forward!
