Reading a Short Japanese News Article
To: Triunfo.email Reader
Hi readers,
As part of my studies with Sae, we’ve started looking at some authentic materials, and this week I attempted to read a short news article in Japanese. It was from one of those websites with simplified news for learners, but still…
It took me forever! I had my dictionary out constantly, and I was re-reading sentences multiple times to try and make sense of the grammar and kanji. But after a lot of effort, I actually managed to understand the gist of the article! It was a small piece about a local festival, nothing too complex, but the sense of accomplishment was huge.
It really shows how different reading textbook exercises is from tackling real-world content. It was challenging, but also incredibly motivating to see that I can start to access information this way.
Slowly getting there,
Oliver
