Hi everyone,

I’ve had a few lessons with my new tutor, Sae, and we’re now officially embarking on a deep dive into Genki 2. It’s a different approach than before, and exactly what I was hoping for at this stage.

Instead of quickly covering new chapters, Sae is really focusing on the finer details of the grammar points in the later Genki 2 chapters (around 16, 17 and onwards). We’re spending a lot of time on nuance, how native speakers actually use these forms, and a lot of conversational practice to make it feel more natural.

It feels slower in terms of ‘pages covered,’ but much richer in terms of understanding. I can already tell this is going to be incredibly beneficial for making my Japanese sound less textbook-y.
