Using a Recipe in Japanese
To: Triunfo.email Reader
Greetings foodies and language learners,
I had a fun (and slightly stressful) experience today – I decided to try and make omurice (オムライス) by following a recipe written entirely in Japanese!
It was a real test of my reading comprehension, especially with all the cooking-specific vocabulary and kanji. There were definitely a few moments where I had to consult my dictionary or make an educated guess. But, step by step, I managed to decipher the instructions.
The best part? The omurice was actually edible! Maybe not restaurant quality, but it was a successful attempt. It felt so rewarding to use my Japanese skills for something practical and tangible (and delicious!).
Bon appétit, or as they say, 召し上がれ (meshiagare)!
Oliver
